Shanghai Steamed Cod

Shanghai Steamed Fish is my favorite way of eating a nice firm white fish. In my old "fat" recipe after steaming you put super hot oil on top of the fish. To get that same flavor I added 2 drops of sesame oil to the marinade. Its awesome with steamed asparagus or steamed green beans

Recipe

7oz of fresh cod fillet
1 teaspoon light soy sauce
1teaspoon chinese cooking wine
2 drops sesame seed oil
Julianne scallion tops
Julianne Ginger

Mix the wet ingredients. Place fish on a steam proof plate. Place julianne ginger and scallion top on top of the fish. Pour marinade on top of the fish.Let sit about 10 minutes while you prepare steamer. I always steam in my wok with the traditional bamboo steamer. Place plate in steamer and steam 5 to 7 minutes or until the fish is flakey.

Serve on a plate with a nice steamed vegetable. Spoon a few teaspoons of the sauce and juices from the steamer plate over the fish.

This dish will not taste diet in any way!!!!!
